Prince William County will be hiring its first ever Environmental Analyst under the Office of Sustainability. The Environmental Analyst position will serve as a subject matter expert to develop and manage data systems to track progress towards the achievement of the county’s Climate Mitigation and Resiliency goals.
 
About This Role: 
This new full-time position will be supporting implementation of the county’s Community Energy and Sustainability Master Plan (CESMP). This plan focuses on strategies to reduce the county’s greenhouse gas emissions, incorporate renewable energy, and make the county more resilient to the effects of climate change. The plan’s recommendations address county transportation, energy, building efficiency, natural resource protection, and climate adaptation.  
 
The Environmental Analyst position will be responsible for developing a system to track greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, and climate resiliency metrics for actions listed in the CESMP and each action’s contribution to achieving the county’s Climate Mitigation and Resiliency goals.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 7 years of professional experience in developing and implementing sustainability programming on a community-wide scale.

Preferences: 
Master’s degree preferred

·       Experience with developing and managing data tracking systems related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and/or climate adaptation

·       Experience with coordinating reporting programs that involve multiple agencies or organizations

·       Experience with developing reports on programs’ greenhouse gas and climate adaptation impacts

·       Ability to present complex technical information in understandable terms

·       Holds a LEED Credential

·       Experience with analyzing proposed land use projects for potential environmental impacts.
